General Tunnel Details
The tunnel measures 620 metres in length. In each traffic bore, there are six emergency exits for pedestrians leading to the central bore, which has with exit doors located at either end.
Each traffic bore is equipped with twelve emergency panels containing hose reels and fire extinguishers. Fans are employed to pressurise the central bore, preventing smoke from entering when an emergency door is opened. The lighting inside the central bore (pedestrian exit) activates fully approximately ten seconds after a door is opened.
The first emergency telephone in each bore is positioned 50 metres into the tunnel, with additional phones every 50 metres thereafter. Within the Northbound bore, approach, and exit ramps, there are fifteen emergency telephones. In the Southbound bore, approach, and exit ramp, there are fourteen emergency telephones.
